Spring Visiting Writers Event and Leonardo Release Party In-Person
Join us for an evening of creative writing, art, and celebration at the Spring Visiting Writer Event & Leonardo Release Party! We’re thrilled to feature Albuquerque’s newest Poet Laureate, Damien Flores, alongside student creators published in the Spring issue of Leonardo, CNM’s student fine arts and literary magazine.
Damien Flores, Albuquerque's 7th Poet Laureate, began writing poetry as a teen with aspirations of becoming a published writer. His dedication and talent has earned him the 2024 Chatter Fellowship, a NM Writer's Grant, and two NM Hispano Entertainer's Association Poet of the Year honors. He also received the UNM English Department's Lena Todd Creative Writing Award. Flores hosts the Spoken Word Hour on 89.9 KUNM-FM and has taught in Albuquerque for over 15 years.
